With me hopping on an airplane tomorrow night to head to Oakland for round #5 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series to do my usual thing for GoPro, it got me thinking about the past times I’ve been there on two wheels myself.
In 2011 I was riding for the Rock River Yamaha Team for the 1st of 2 years and got the call to ride press day a couple days before the race.
This was my 2nd year rocking a GoPro whenever they asked me to. I was blown away the first time I rode my personal Sx track in 2010 wearing one and saw how the footage looked. So anytime they asked if I wanted to race with one I was fully down. It’s paid off!
With GoPro HQ being not too far from Oakland some of the boys were on hand to shoot and edit a really cool video with Myself opening it up, followed by Weston Peick, & Austin Stroupe.
As far as the race goes, I was 16th fastest in the 450 class after session 1 but did a classic head plant in the larger than normal whoops (which were my strong point with being 6 foot 3 inches) and my head was ringing too much to line up that night.
But hey! At least there’s a cool video from press day.
